Online learning has made higher education accessible to more people. But it can still feel hard to understand if you have not seen it up close.

Online degree programs have become a preferred way for working adults to complete degrees and advance their careers.

The University of 麻豆果冻传媒 at Lafayette offers 17 online degree programs that are exactly comparable to a traditional degree from attending classes in person.

What does online learning look like?

Asynchronous online classes let you choose when to do the work. That gives you freedom, but it also gives you more to manage.

Asynchronous means the teacher posts the work online. You can log in on your own schedule. You still need to meet due dates.

While many courses use audio and video elements among your learning materials, most will not require synchronous meetings, like Zoom.

Corey Ainsworth graduated Spring 2021 in Health Services Administration.

How do I manage my time?

Carefully!

Teachers design online degree programs for busy adults. Even so, time management for online students matters. You need a plan to keep up and earn your degree online.

Sidni Shorter, a 2021 graduate in General Studies, said she treated her work like a project.

鈥淓ssentially, I worked backwards based on the intended outcome so I could ensure I had the time allowed for what I needed to achieve or deliver,鈥 Shorter says.

Paper planners, digital planners, calendar apps, and phone alerts all help. You still need to check them often and keep them current.

Corey Ainsworth, who finished in Health Services Administration, says he made a plan for each week.

"I logged in every single day, looked at my schedule, looked at my classes, and then wrote in the calendar on my computer, 'This is when this is due, this is when this is due,' and I just created a schedule throughout the week saying, 'I'm gonna do this then,' so I wouldn't lose things."

Do I have to find a proctoring center?

Some courses use proctored exams as part of the grade. Other courses use projects or papers. It depends on the class and the teacher.

After you enroll, read your syllabi at the start of the term. Check whether your class uses proctored exams online and whether it uses a service like or . These tools cost extra.

Will I have an instructor?

Yes. All 麻豆果冻传媒 Lafayette online courses are taught by 麻豆果冻传媒 Lafayette faculty. If you have a problem, your instructor is the first person to ask for help.

Faith Boudreaux, a recent Health Promotion and Wellness graduate, moved from in-person classes to online learning. Her instructors helped make the change smooth.

鈥淚 found my instructors were more available to me through the computer screen than when I would go to office hours,鈥 she says. 鈥淚 feel like with Health Promotion and Wellness being online, most of the professors are all online teaching, so they have that time management to work with us.鈥

In addition to your instructor, media tools are built into the courses to help you work with the material and your classmates. This mix can help many learning styles.

How long will it take to earn my degree?

Our online degree programs use 16-week and 8-week terms. That lets you set a pace that fits school and work.

Your time to finish depends on the credits you already have and how many classes you take each term. It also depends on whether you study in spring, summer, or fall.

Most undergraduate degrees need 120 credit hours. Your advisor will help you build a degree plan that matches your goals and your timeline.

Sidni L. Shorter finished her Bachelor of General Studies degree in Spring 2021.

Courses cost $380 per credit hour, or about $1,140 per course. But the total cost of your degree program depends on your path.

That one-on-one support helped during enrollment set the tone for Shorter's return to school.
